Christophe Demunter has a long-standing experience in official statistics, first at the statistical office and central bank of his native country Belgium, but since 2004 at Eurostat. He worked in several statistical domains, including labour market statistics, national accounts and information society statistics. Currently, he is coordinating tourism statistics. As such, he has been for many years a reference person for tourism statistics in the European Commission and at international level, and has been actively involved in innovative initiatives, for instance on the use of mobile positioning data and data from accommodation platforms. Christophe holds degrees in applied economics, criminology and European law.
